Each bargaining unit may vote to withhold annual unit dues in addition to MSEA state dues to cover a variety of expenses:

|Delegate Assembly expenses for Alternates||Sunshine fund|
|Publishing/distributing a unit newsletter||General operating expenses|
Step 1: Ask your members! Schedule a unit membership vote to decide whether or not to
withhold unit dues.
Step 2: Return the Authorization form to the MSEA by June 1st to withhold unit dues through
payroll deduction for the upcoming year.
Step 3: Establish an Organizational Checking Account at the United Educators Credit Union.
NOTE: To stop local dues, a unit must again hold a vote and return an amended Unit Funds
Deduction Authorization form to MSEA by June 1st, effective the upcoming school year.
Each unit can decide what local dues amount is right for them. Here are four options:
