PARAPROFESSIONALS • SECRETARIES • FOOD SERVICE • CUSTODIANS • BUS DRIVERS • TECHNICIANS Education funding to be cut by $1 billionFebruary 13, 2009 - MSEA recently reviewed the budget released by Governor Tim Pawlenty and many details of the budget would put over $1 billion of school funding in jeopardy. With schools already stretched thin, MSEA is concerned that further cuts to educational spending will jeopardize our member’s jobs and educational quality in Minnesota. Governor Tim Pawlenty’s budget was released on January 27, 2009 and although $350 million in new money is being proposed in his budget for public education, the money is favoring wealthy and well-performing suburban schools, which would deal a major blow to already revenue hungry rural schools. |
