A strong membership is essential to the success of any union. School districts are well aware of how many full members and fair share fee payers are in each bargaining unit. Despite the best efforts of your negotiation team at the bargaining table, a high number of fair share fee payers in a unit can seriously undermine the bargaining process. High numbers of fair share fee payers sends the message to the district that the unit does not stand behind the team. It says the unit doesn’t care.
