2008 MSEA Core Training

"Navigating Conflict"

MSEA is offering the 2008 Core Training entitled "Navigating Conflict" workshop on two separate weekends in two locations:

Mankato - January 25-26, 2008
Bemidji - February 1-2, 2008

Unit leaders (unit officers, building reps and negotiation teams) are invited to attend this free workshop. MSEA would like to continue to offer relevant trainings, giving leaders the tools necessary to handle a variety of situations. We hope to see you there!

Be sure to register for the workshop nearest you! YOU are MSEA and it is only through your involvement that the union has a voice and stands strong!

Most of us hate conflict.

But is it possible that conflict can be a good thing?

Can you turn conflict into something that works for you?

Conflict can lead to the next best thing if you have the skills and knowledge to recognize it and deal with it directly and effectively.

You will learn how advance preparation for negotiations and discipline meetings can make all the difference. We will also show you techniques to use when emotions are high and you want to get everyone back on track.

Unit officers (Chief Steward, Vice Steward, Secretary, Treasurer, Grievance Steward)

Building Representatives

Negotiation Team Members

Full members with an interest in unit leadership are also welcome to attend.

Registration for both workshops are due in the MSEA office by January 4, 2008. Attendance is limited to 50 participants for each location, so be sure to register ASAP.

NOTE: Bemidji workshop is full - email Jodi Lietzau to add your name to the waiting list. You will be contacted in the event of a cancellation.

Members must also call the hotel by January 4, 2008 to designate their room under the MSEA reservation.

expenses & reimbursements

MSEA will pick up the following costs:
Hotel room - expenses for Friday evening during the trainings
Meals - Friday lunch, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast & Saturday lunch at the hotel
Roundtrip mileage - members from the same district are encouraged to carpool
Lost wages - from MSEA contracted work
